With an unimpressive turnout of 8 Guys against IOWs 15, we had to skate twice as hard to keep up.We were late getting on the ice and made the 1st period look like a warm up! We begun the game with little motivation or determination. IOW gained an upper hand of 4 goals to 0. A highstick split Jeff Bonds lip but was missed by the referees. A late penalty to IOW saw the Cougars launch a comeback bud.

Karl was bench coach due to injury, and helped considerably by organising better lines as the demands required. Karl kicked the teams butts in to gear, and motivated the guys for the next period.

IOW scored 2 more goals, followed by Mark Nutall setting up a shot for Jeff to make our first goal of the game. Nigel Lunn made a pass to Jeff Bond dumping yet another, Jeff took it in his stride to make an un-assisted goal, making the clock show 3-6. Nick gained the opportunity from Jeff to score his first goal of the game, followed by Mark un-assisted. Finishing the 2nd period 6-5.

The 3rd Period took both teams into a little frustration, with the unusual close scoring. The net-minders on both teams were doing a great job, it clear to see that IOWs’ goalie had been doing some training since our last game with them. Our next goal was set up by Nick and finished off Jeff. A grab for the puck proved difficult for IOW, with 9 minutes to go Nigel got crossed-checked from behind by #14 Bielik, despite the ref calling it as tripping. With our 5 on 4 opportunity, Jeff scored another securing our win and finishing it at 8-6. Report by Mel (puck bunny)
